Welcome.

I'm Timmy McInerney, an IT professional focused on systems administration, infrastructure, networking, and technology support.

Vexxus Networks is my independent infrastructure project, started in 2020 as a place to learn, experiment, build, and maintain real-world systems.

What started as a small collection of hardware has grown into a multi-server environment supporting virtualization, networking, storage, monitoring, backups, Linux services, and Windows infrastructure.

Projects

A few of the systems and projects that make up Vexxus Networks.
Vexxus Data Center

Vexxus Data Center (VDC) is the core infrastructure behind Vexxus Networks.

VDC is a multi-server environment used for virtualization, storage, networking, monitoring, backups, and self-hosted services.

The environment is continuously evolving as new technologies are tested and new infrastructure is deployed.

Systems & Networking

Much of Vexxus is focused on the infrastructure underneath the applications.

I design and maintain segmented networks, virtualization infrastructure, storage, authentication services, backups, and monitoring systems.

Projects often involve troubleshooting a problem, identifying the root cause, and redesigning the environment so the problem does not happen again.

Areas of Focus

Active Directory DNS DHCP PXE NTP Routing VLANs LACP Monitoring Backups

Monitoring:
Prometheus - Grafana - InfluxDB

Virtualization:
Proxmox VE - Windows Server - Linux

Development & Projects

Infrastructure is only part of what I build. Vexxus also serves as a development environment for applications, automation, websites, and other technical projects.

Some projects are practical tools. Others exist because I wanted to learn how something works.

Selected Projects

I also use Vexxus to experiment with scripting, automation, databases, APIs, monitoring, and self-hosted applications.
